Really loving last years The White Ribbon and finding The Piano Teacher an unbearable watch I was amazed at how great Cache turned out for me.

Among themes like guilt, childhood, mistrust and dishonesty what seems central to this movie is its aim of asking the audience to raise questions rather than blindly trusting the images we get served in our everyday life. It's all the more compelling regarding the film itself wants to be watched sceptically as with its open ending it doesn't show the answer one might look for.

There are not many movies that truly amaze me these days. All the better for it that the Toy Story Trilogy came to such a great ending. I already loved TS 1 & 2 and wondered how Woody and his gang could keep raising grown-up issues such as dependancy, loyalty and love? Well they just showed what it might mean to say goodbye without avoiding the inevitable parallels one could draw towards death and violence. Remarkable for plastic toys that just happened to move and talk.

I must confess that occasionally I truly LOVE a good horror/sci-fi flick on days like... well Christmas Eve.

From Event Horizon to Paranormal Activity. They can all scare the shit out of me and therefore entertain me quite well on cant-get-out-of-bed-days like these.

Not only since Twilight I also share some fascination with those good old bloodsuckers known as the Vampires. Surprisingly the most interesting movie from the last couple of years of this genre should come from the Swedes.

Låt Den Rätte Komma In (Let The Right One In) from director Tomas Alfredson is not only an atmospheric bloodsoaked horror movie of wonderful effects and photography but a timeless story of the beauty and brutality of childhood.
